GTIIT Student VPN Instruction

The GTIIT Student VPN enables students to securely connect to the campus network from non-GTIIT networks (e.g., home broadband). The VPN encrypts data transfers and allows access to specific GTIIT websites or online resources that are otherwise restricted off-campus.

Setup Instructions

1. Install and Enable TOPT Authenticator

A TOPT authenticator, such as Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator, is required to log in to the VPN. If certain Android devices face issues, you can use the Tencent WeChat Authenticator (腾讯身份验证器).

Option 1: Download and install the Microsoft Authenticator from your phone’s app store:

Option 2: Open the Tencent WeChat Authenticator (腾讯身份验证器) from the WeChat MiniProgram.

Example: Below is the Microsoft Authenticator interface for reference.

2. Install GTIIT Atrust VPN Application

1. Download the Client:

   • Visit https://atrustvpn.gtiit.edu.cn:9443.
   • Click “Download” in the top-right corner.
   • Select the appropriate client version.
     • Example for Windows: aTrustInstaller[https@atrustvpn.gtiit.edu.cn@9443].exe.
       
       

2. Install the Client:

   • Double-click the downloaded .exe file to install the application.

3. Configure and Connect to the VPN

1. Set the Server Address:

   • Open the aTrust client and navigate to【Settings—Switch】.
     
   • Enter the server address: https://atrustvpn.gtiit.edu.cn:9443 and click【OK】.
     

2. Login:

   • Return to the login page and select the AD login method.
   • Enter your GTIIT account (without @gtiit.edu.cn) and password.
   • Complete the CAPTCHA as required.
     

3. Bind to the TOPT Authenticator:

   • Click Bind when prompted.
     

   • Scan the QR code using your TOPT authenticator to add the account.
     
     
     
     

   • Enter the OTP code within 30 seconds to bind your account.
     Note: If binding fails, remove the account from Microsoft Authenticator and repeat the process.
     

4. Connect to the VPN:

• Once the correct credentials are entered, the connection will be established shortly and it will show Connected.
• You may experience a brief network interruption, and the Wi-Fi/Ethernet icon may change to the Earth icon.
