Non-eduroam Guest Wi-Fi Access

Guest Account

Any non-University member visiting for educational or research purposes, and who cannot use the eduroam service, may be registered to use the Wi-Fi service by a member of staff associated with their visit to the University.

The member of staff creating the guest account must take responsibility for the network activity of their guest and must make their guest aware of the Code of Practice for the use of computing facilities at Guangdong Technion.

Connecting to the guest Wi-Fi

A visitor can use a guest Wi-Fi account to connect to the GTIIT-Guest wireless network.

  1. Set your Wi-Fi device to obtain an IP address and DNS server address automatically.
  2. You may have to tick a box to say allow connection to an insecure network.
  3. Connected to the GTIIT-Guest network, start up a web browser on your device.
  4. Your web-browser will be redirected to the log-in page. If this does not happen, try to go to www.gtiit.edu.cn.
  5. Log in using the username and password you have been given.
  6. Once you have successfully logged in to the GTIIT-Guest wireless network, you will be able to access any internet site outside the University’s campus network with limited access to some of University’s internal online services.

Note: GTIIT-Guest is an open network, and other people may be able to see the information you send over this network; you are strongly recommended to use a personal firewall and traffic encryption when connected. It is your responsibility to take steps to ensure that you maintain your own data protection and privacy.
