GTIIT Knowledge Base - GTIIT VPN Off-campus Network Access With SSO

GTIIT VPN allows GTIIT users to securely connect to the campus network even over a non-GTIIT network access (e.g. home broadband service). The VPN technology encrypts the data transferred online. Some GTIIT websites / online resources are accessible off campus only if users have connected to a VPN connection.

Compatibility

Working on iOS, MacOS, and Windows OS, but might not be working on certain Android devices.

Note: Please DO NOT install the UWP version from the Microsoft Store, as it is an incomplete version for GTIIT-VPN connection purposes.

Install VPN client Pulse Secure
Option 1 - Download and Install Pulse Secure from IT OneDrive Share (Strongly recommended)
Option 2 – For iOS, download and Install Pulse Secure from the Apple Store, it's now called Ivanti Secure Access Client in the store.
If you are using an IT-assigned computer, you can install Pulse Secure in the Software Center.
If you are using MacOS and it's not available in your Apple Store, please download either of them here:

After successfully installing Pulse Secure, please open Pulse Secure software, and click “+” to create a new connection.
Fill in GTIIT VPN and Server URL https://sslvpn.gtiit.edu.cn/sso, then click Add >> Connect.
For the first-time connection, you will be asked to verify the network certificate, tick the checkbox of Save settings, then Connect
Regarding the mentioned certificate chain, you can also simply copy and paste the link https://sslvpn.gtiit.edu.cn/sso via your web browser and then check the certificate it used.
A new window pops up. Enter your GTIIT email account (with @gtiit.edu.cn suffix) and password
You will be asked for second verification (SMS text or Authenticator).
It will show Connected shortly if you input the correct credentials.
After the VPN connection is established, you might experience a brief network interruption and see the WiFi/Ethernet icon change to the Earth icon. Please wait 1-2 minutes for all connections to stabilize before using the VPN service.

Some Android device models in China may no longer be compatible with the Pulse Secure app. You can try using Ivanti Secure to see if it works: Get GTIIT VPN Connected with Ivanti Secure on Android Devices
Alternatively, you can use an iOS device or a computer to access the GTIIT VPN connection.

When using the VPN, remember that your device is on the GTIIT campus network and you are responsible for all activities. Disconnect from GTIIT as soon as you are finished.
