If your computer is using the GTIIT internal network license for MATLAB and the software is shared by multiple login users, please follow the steps below to activate it. In other words, use this method if:
- MATLAB activation during installation failed.
- MATLAB was installed by using a File Installation Key and no license was supplied.
- The GTIIT internal MATLAB network license server was changed and MATLAB needs to be pointed to the updated license file.
If your MATLAB was activated by signing in with your GTIIT MathWorks account, no action is needed. Before You Start
- Make sure MATLAB is already installed.
- Make sure you have the GTIIT-provided license file.
- If the activation app starts in online mode, go to "Advanced Options" and select "I want to use a license file".
How to Start the Activation App
From inside MATLAB
- Open MATLAB.
- Go to "Help" > "Licensing".
- Select "Activate Software".
Windows
- Search for "Activate" from the Start menu or taskbar.
- Open "Activate
MATLAB".
Alternative path:
- Go to the MATLAB installation folder.
- Open: matlabroot\bin\win64\MathWorksProductAuthorizer.exe
macOS
- Open the MATLAB application package.
- Right-click MATLAB and select "Show Package Contents".
- Open the activation application.
Alternative path:
- Go to the MATLAB installation folder.
- Run: matlabroot/bin/$ARCH/MathWorksProductAuthorizer
Linux
- Go to the MATLAB installation folder.
- Run: matlabroot/bin/$ARCH/MathWorksProductAuthorizer
How to Activate by License File
- Open the activation app.
- If prompted for an email address, go to "Advanced Options".
- Select "I want to use a
license file".
- Browse to the license file provided by GTIIT IT.
- Click "Activate".
After Activation
- Start MATLAB normally.
- If MATLAB opens without a license error, the activation is complete.
If Activation Still Fails
- Take a screenshot of the error.
- Contact GTIIT IT department for further support.
