Print From Windows System Using GTIIT Staff Printers

This instruction provides instructions on how our staff and PG students connect a Windows computer to the GTIIT shared print queues and then release their jobs on the public MFPs on campus.

Before you begin

  • GTIIT printers are available only inside the GTIIT network. Please do not use any personal VPN, proxy or accelerator when you print.
  • Connect your computer to Wi-Fi "eduroam" or "GTIIT-SEC" with your GTIIT account, or to a wired network point on campus.
  • Network printing is not officially supported on Android devices, so please use a computer or GTIIT Web Print - How To Print From Your Own Device
  • For Mac or iOS devices, please follow the separate guide "Print from macOS or iOS using AirPrint.

Add GTIIT printers on Windows

On your Windows computer, open File Explorer (not a web browser).  In the address bar, type \\print.gtiit.edu.cn and press Enter.

  1. If you are using a GTIIT-managed computer that is joined to the GTIIT domain, the printer list appears directly. Double-click "Staff-Print-Q" and "Staff-ColorPrint-Q". Windows installs the drivers and both printers are added to your printer list.

  2. If you are using a personal Windows computer that is not in the GTIIT domain, a login window appears. Log in as:
    • Username: gtiit\username
    • Password: your GTIIT password
After login, the printer list appears. Double-click "Staff-Print-Q" and/or "Staff-ColorPrint-Q". Windows installs the drivers and the selected printer is added to your printer list.

If you can't add the printers to your Windows computer, please follow the instruction provided here - GTIIT Printer Connection Issues On Personal Computers

Print and release your job

  1. Open the document you want to print and press Ctrl+P (or use the Print menu).
  2. In the printer list, select "Staff-Print-Q" for black and white, or "Staff-ColorPrint-Q" for color if available to you. Confirm the settings and click Print.
  3. Go to a GTIIT public printer, sign in with your campus card or account on the device screen, find your held job in the list and release it to print.
  4. Log out from the device after printing. For detailed steps on operating the MFP itself, please see "How to use MFP".
